Prescribed Fire and Longleaf Restoration Workshop
The LandTrust for Central North Carolina will be hosting two volunteer workshops in Montgomery County this fall and early winter. The workshops will provide participants an opportunity to get hands-on experience in prepping an area for a prescribed burn. Participants will learn about fire line prep and installation for wildlife benefit as well as how to protect significant features within the burn area. This is scheduled tentatively for November 15, 2017. Following in December the LandTrust will host a second volunteer workshop to provide participants an opportunity to get hands-on experience for the entire process of selecting and planting containerized longleaf pine seedlings. All these workshops will be in conjunction with the restoration of a rare piedmont longleaf pine habitat. The longleaf pine planting workshop is scheduled tentatively for December 15, 2017.
