Three Rivers Canoe & Kayak Race

The LandTrust is excited to announce that we will be hosting a three-part paddle series! Named after the three main rivers within our 10-county region, this series will feature races on the Uwharrie River, Pee Dee River, and Rocky River. The series will begin on May 19th with a 6.8 mile paddle race down the Uwharrie River. The launch point will be located at Low Water Bridge, and the race will conclude at a take out on Hwy 109.

Participants will have the option to pay an entry fee of $35 (without a t-shirt) or $50 (with a t-shirt) and must bring their own boat. The morning of the race, participants will be expected to check in at Eldorado Outpost. Participants and their boats will then be shuttled to the Low Water Bridge boat launch. The race will begin at 8:00am. After the race concludes, participants will be shuttled back to Eldorado Outpost.

This is an especially scenic stretch of the Uwharrie River. Participants will paddle past a state champion shortleaf pine tree, found on LandTrust owned land right on the banks of the river. Midway through the race, participants will paddle by Ledger Rock, a unique large rock formation in the river. Expect to see bald eagles, osprey, great blue heron, ducks and more on this beautiful paddle.

Future races in the series will be planned for the Pee Dee River in Anson and Richmond Counties, and the Rocky River in Stanly and Anson County.

In the event that the water is at an unsafe level or there is inclement weather, the makeup date for this race will be June 2nd. No refunds.
