Catawba College Ecological Preserve
Rowan County
130 acres Conservation Easement
The first easement donated by a private North Carolina college, the
Catawba College Ecological Preserve is a large nature sanctuary with
public trails throughout. Under the supervision of 2002 North
Carolina Conservationist of the Year, Dr. John Wear, Jr., the Preserve
has shallow water impoundments, as well as forested and open seasonal
wetlands playing home to numerous species of migratory waterfowl.
