Whole Communities Workshop, Friday April 23rd
Friday, April 23, 2010, in Salisbury, NC Saturday, April 24, 2010, in Raleigh, NC The fragmentation that exists in America created by issues of class, race, politics and privilege is directly played out in our organizations and our movements for change. Those who care about people and those who care about land, for example, are divided by isolated approaches, priorities and alliances. Working in isolation from one another has challenged our ability to creatively and holistically confront the complex issues facing our communities in North Carolina. These issues range from conservation to water scarcity, from urban development to food, hunger, housing, and transportation. By bringing leaders from different backgrounds into relationship with each other, we will seek to identify and experience the value in partnering across boundaries of difference, discover who we have excluded from our respective tables, and redefine our work in a way that more wholly represents our collective interests.
