Jason A. Walser
Executive Director

Jason was born and raised in Statesville and has always had an appreciation for this region’s beauty and diversity.  Jason graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a BS in Business Administration, and returned to Chapel Hill to obtain a law degree as well.  After practicing primarily estate planning and probate law with Linkous and Associates in Hendersonville for just over a year, Jason joined The Land Trust for Central North Carolina in 1999 as the Associate Director for Land Protection.  He was promoted to Executive Director in 2001 and has served in that role ever since.  He lives with his wife Tracy, son Ian, daughter Autumn in Salisbury near the Catawba College ecological preserve.

Andrew Waters

Andrew comes to us from the Catawba Lands Conservancy in Charlotte where he worked as their Land Protection Director.  His business experiences are bolstered by an MBA he received from UNC Greensboro.  In his spare time, Andrew enjoys flyfishing, canoeing, creative writing, and spending time with his wife, Anne, and son, Eli.

Crystal Cockman
Uwharrie Conservation Specialist

Crystal began her time at the LandTrust as a Duke University Stanback Intern in Summer 2005.  She enjoyed the job so much that she came back to work part-time her last semester of graduate school, and joined on as a full-time staff member in July 2006.  A local girl born and raised in Moore County, Crystal has always had a heart for conservation issues in this region.  She graduated from Duke University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, and minors in Earth and Ocean Science and in English.  In May 2006, she received her Master of Environmental Management from Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment and Earth Sciences, with a focus on Environmental Health and Security.  In her spare time, she enjoys reading, playing tennis, flyfishing, and traveling.
